This past weekend the Interactive Design Video Production program (IDVP) had 12 students compete in the 24 hour Minneapolis Film Race 2010. Students were given 24 hours to create/produce a 3-5 minute movie with an assigned topic. The films will be judged on Wednesday, March 31st at the Oak Street Cinema in SE Minneapolis. The films will be posted online after that and can be voted for online.

Advanced Production Lab students Clay Ebeling and Cory Laing came in to the studio during spring break to paint flats and set lights for the new Reel to Real show. In the next few weeks we will put together a mock R2R show to determine the work flow for future students. Thanks for your help guys!

Students from the Video Production Equipment course get “hands on” with a 3-minute demonstration. The students shoot a product “live” with 3 cameras and 3 varied shots. Each student directs a demonstration with a full crew.

Recently, IDVP student Margo Cavis shot footage for her corporate video sales promo. Margo is an avid diver, photographer, graphic designer and video producer. Margo’s business is called Digital Elves Productions. IDVP student Brian Hoskins was also on the shoot. Check out the video about the ice dive on YouTube.

IDVP graduates, December 17, 2009
We are pleased to announce the graduation of six talented and motivated students on December 17, 2009. Graduating with an AAS degree in Video Production are Andrew Chisholm, Clayton Ebeling, Kassandra Langum, and Joseph Young. Achieving the honor of Phi Theta Kappa with his AAS in Interactive Design was Patrick Tullo Jr. Completing the certificate in A/V Technology was Kristien Watts. Congratulations graduates. Filmanthropist Project 2009
The following Interactive Design and Video Production students won 1st place in the second annual Filmanthropist Project on December 13, 2009. There were 23 short films presented. (See contest description below)

- Joey Young- Production Assistant
- Daniel Steinberg – Editor
All students will graduate in the Fall or Spring and will participate in DoorPost project in February, the 24-hour contest in Minneapolis in April, and the 48 hour contest in Minneapolis in June.
The Filmanthropist Project invites filmmakers — from first-timers to pros — to capture stories about the great things people are doing to build better communities. Award-winning Minnesota filmmaker Jesse Roesler founded the Filmanthropist Project to create a forum for documenting and celebrating philanthropic work in action.
Films were judged by a panel of seasoned filmmakers, and the top 10 films were screened at a theatrical awards event in December 08.

Aaron Esterling and Loyal Carlon
HTC students Aaron Esterling and Loyal Carlon won the Video Contest at the SkillsUSA National Contest in Kansas City, MO in June, 2009. Competing against students from around the country they demonstrated their commitment to success. They were required to develop, produce, and deliver the completed video project under stressful conditions and significant time constraints. Congratulations gentlemen!
